For Christmas this year, Rachel and Ruthie received a gift for which they have been waiting patiently – pierced ears! The assumption was that Rachel would get her ears pierced at perhaps 12 or 13, and Ruthie would have to wait until the same age. Instead, we decided to surprise Rachel by letting her get them earlier than expected. And Rachel had earlier let us know that she would rather get her ears pierced with Ruthie, thinking it would be more fun to be able to share earrings and talk all about important earring matters with her sister.
